Multicasting send and receive rate

Hi All,

I have been workign on a task to troubleshoot multicasting sending and receiving rate issue. We are not getting the expected output on a CE router.

Does multicasting sending and receiving stream rate depend on bandwidth of the link between CE and PE?

Please help me on this issue.

Regards,

Thiyagu

Hello Thyagu,

>> Does multicasting sending and receiving stream rate depend on bandwidth of the link between CE and PE?

As for unicast traffic if there is enough bandwidth all of the packets of the stream are received on the CE otherwise some packets are dropped and  RX rate is lower then TX rate for the losses.

The CE joins the multicast session and the network attempts to send all the traffic related to the session if possible.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
