Multicasting withinInternal Network

hi all

im having problems seting up multicasting within our internal LAN. We have an ASA (rather than a router). Please advise on how best to get this setup. When sending multicasts between pc's on same subnet 192.168.1.xx/24 it works, but when sending it between server and pc on same subnet it doesnt. Are there any configs i need to add on the ASA and our switches. we have 3com switches..please help.

Re: Multicasting withinInternal Network

1.One of the common causes of packets not reaching receivers is Reverse Path Forwarding (RPF) check failure. Once a multicast data distribution tree is formed using a multicast routing protocol, routers use RPF check to forward multicast packets from one interface to another.

2.Another reason packets may not reach receivers is that the Time To Live (TTL) value of packets is not set enough to reach the receivers available in the various parts of the network.

Re: Multicasting withinInternal Network

thank you for your reply. The main reason was that multicast-routing was not enabled on the ASA.

Thanks once again.
