multiple SVI's on 2940

I didnt have any luck with searching, but when i try to configure 2 SVI's (interface vlan 1, interface vlan 2) on my 2940 the previously up and up interface goes down when i do a 'no shut' on the new one.... here's the output and config...

interface Vlan1

ip address 192.168.0.101 255.255.255.0

no ip route-cache

!

interface Vlan999

ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

no ip route-cache

shutdown

Switch(config-if)#do show ip int bri

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol

Vlan1 192.168.0.101 YES manual up up

Vlan999 10.1.1.1 YES manual administratively down down

Switch(config-if)#int vlan 999

Switch(config-if)#no shut

Switch(config-if)#

Re: multiple SVI's on 2940

2940 is a layer2 switch and routing isn't allowed. The SVI in a 29xx is purely for management purposes so you only need one.

bummer. was hoping that wasnt the case with the advanced ip services image running. oh well.
