We are coming up with an effort to upgrade our N7K's (Core & Aggr). We have around 5 VDCs today.
Existing - dual SUP1s with 5.1.5 - Fab 1 - M1/M2 modules.
Proposed - dual SUP2Es with 6.2.8 - Fab 2 - M2/F2 modules
What we planned was:
Step 1) Upgrade the IOS's in SUP1 -> 5.1(5) to 5.2(7) to 6.2(8) --> do we need to upgrade the EPLD's manually ?
Step 2) Replace FAB1 with FAB 2 (OIR)
Step 3) Upgrade the dual Supervisors - SUP1 to SUP2E -> do we need to take care of anything here ?
Step 4 ) upgrade or replace the modules
We are aware that we can also directly upgrade the SUP1 to SUP2E with 6.2(8), but we wanted to do IOS upgrade first, and see how 6.2(8) works in our environment for a week or two. We have had so many bugs with N5Ks and wanted to be safe.
Is this upgrade procedure right ? Can someone shed light on this, if you have done this before ?
