NAT order of operation

We have a 6500 Switch with 3 interfaces.  One is out to the internet and is configured with NAT outside, one is to a local subnet and configured as NAT INSIDE (subnet A) .  The Third is another local subnet (Sbunet B) and its interface has no NAT configuration.

We want to NAT the Subnet A to the internet but subnet B should not see Subnet A as NAT'd.

Will traffic from Subnet A passing through the Dist Switch be NAT'd to subnet B?

Hi,

as subnet B interface is not configured for NAT then traffic from A to B will not get natted.

Regards.

Thanks - Where do you go to rate answers?

If a packet comes through from Network A through the INSIDE interface, I'm assuming that it does not get translated until ti goes through the OUTSIDE interface then ?

Does the packet get tagged on the INSIDE interface in some way indicating that its from a network that is to be NAT'd?

Hi,

yes it must be forwarded out a NAT outside interface to get translated.
