Hi all,

i need a 12 port layer2 switch which will be having all the features listed below.

1. Type: PoE Capable 12 ports 10/l00BaseTX + 2 port l000BaseT+2 Port SFP Ports loaded with fiber module of 1000 LX SMF in the blank SFP slot and PoE functionality for all the 12 ports.

2. MAC Address: min 8000 MAC Addresses

3. Backplane: Min. 9.6 Gbps

4. Layer2 switching capacity: Min 6.5 Mbps

5. Power over Ethernet: IEEE 802.3af based with support for up to 24 Class 2 Powered Device sat 7.3 watts and up to 11 class 3 powered devices at 15.4 watts

6. Stacking: Should be Stackable up to 6 units from dedicated stack port over RJ45, Must be possible to have Port Mirroring, Trunking and VLAN configuration across stack, Must have Backup master facility so that on failure of primary master the stack continues to work, Single IP management, and full duplex link with 2Gbps performance.

7. Stacking Backplane: Min 4Gbps

8. System Capacity: 24MB RAM & 16MB System Memory & 400 Mhz Processor

9. Standard compliance: 4 IEEE 802.ld, IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.lp, IEEE 802.1P, IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1w, IEEE 802.lx, IEEE 8023, IEE 802.Sab, IEEE 802.3ac, IEEE 802.3ad,

IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3x, IEEE 802.3z, RFC 1112., RFC 2236, RFC 2865, RFC 783, RFC 951, TACACS+, LACP.

10. VLAN support: IEEE 802.1Q based VLANS with support for Min. 256VLAN groups and GVRP and Guest VLAN

11. Layer 2 Features: Should support Port Trunking Port Mirroring, Rapid Spanning Tree protocol, MSTP, Port based MAC address limit lock down, IGMP v2

12. QOS: Port based and IEEE 802.lp based Quality of Service.

13. Security: RADIUS & TACACS support and port based network access control, SSLV3, SSHV2

14. Management: Console Telnet, GUI, CLI, SNMPV3, RMON (4 groups). Switch should support single IP management stack with upto 6

switches in a single stack

15. Mounting: 19' Rack Mountable, Mounting Accessories to be included

16. Power Supply: 240V, AC Internal Power Supply.

6) Your stacking requirement rules out anything other than the 3750 series.

7) See #6 Unless you're going to etherchannel or select a product with 10Gbps.

8) What does it matter how much RAM the box has so long as it's capable of running it's OS?

Based on the class of switch you're describing with all your other requirements, I'd say you need to be looking in the 2960 family of switches. Port density is 8/24/48 with the 2960 but I suspect the extra ports won't be an issue.
