Hello,

We have a customer who is internested in the 1841 series router.

We need to get some explanation on the different part numbers for this router. In particular:

Security Bundles

CISCO1841-SEC/K9

1841 Security Bundle,Adv.Security,64FL/256DR

CISCO1841-HSEC/K9

1841 Bundle w/AIM-VPN/SSL-1,Adv. IP Svcs,10 SSL lic,64F/256D

CISCO1841-T1SEC/K9

1841 Security Bundle w/ WIC-1DSU-T1-V2, Adv.Sec.,64FL,256DR

What do all the acronyms in the part numbers mean?

What does K9 mean?

Does the part number with the T1 in it include a T1 wic? If so do the other part numbers just include an ethernet WIC for cable/dsl broadband connections?

-Thanks

Brian

Look in the Quick Reference guide (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/qrg/index.html) - according to it, the HSEC bundle adds the AIM-VPN module.

That module supports hardware-based encryption; thus the increase from 100 to 800 VPN tunnels supported.

Hope this helps.

Hello Brian,

a 1841 should have one or two built-in lan interfaces.

w/ = with

K9 = with 3DES encryption

WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 a submodule with T1

AIM-VPN/SSL-1: hardware encryption module

Hope to help

Giuseppe

What is the difference brtween SEC & HSEC? I noticed that there are two part numbers like that.
