Does anyone know anything about Verizon's (or any other carrier's) EPL service?
Verizon has a MAN service called TLS (Transparent LAN Switching), which does NOT support QoS/CoS. I guess it has something to do with the manner in which the TLS service tags and trunks the traffic.
They do, however, have a MAN service that does support QoS. It's called EPL.
Has anyone heard anything about it? Does anyone know how to configure the termination port on the switch itself? Should the switch port that terminates the TLS/EPL circuit be configured a sa normal full duplex Ethernet port or as a trunk port?
Ethernet Private Line (EPL) service is a dedicated point-to-point connection from one customer-specified location to another, with guaranteed bandwidth and payload transparency end to end. With its wire-speed performance and VLAN transparency, the Cisco EPL Service offers an ideal solution for transparent LAN interconnection and data-center integration. While TDM and OC-x-based facilities have traditionally provided EPL service, the Cisco EPL Service also supports wavelengths, Ethernet over SONET/SDH, and dedicated Ethernet platforms interconnected via fiber
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
