Friday last had a cable failure and today in another stack I found this error message when direct connected. I cant reach it from the management ip and some vlans are operational and some arnt.

I dont want to down the switch since I have 100 users working.'

Any thoughts?

Re: need help with a 3750 switch stack

From the output interpreter.

Explanation: This device has recorded a PLATFORM_RPC-3-MSG_THROTTLED: error

This message indicates that too many outgoing messages are queued for a message

class. An remote procedure call (RPC) message is dropped.

The first [int] represents the message type.

The second [int] represents the message class.

The third [int] represents the maximum number of messages that can be queued before

throttling occurs.

The last [int] represents the total number of messages that are throttled.

This error is logged when some packets are lost during communication with the stack.

This error can also occur due to a bug when jumbo frames are configured with the

'system mtu jumbo {size}' command. In addition, this message can be caused when

heavy traffic hits the switch CPU, which can occur due to a potential DoS attack,

or when a virus sends traffic to the IP address of the switch (management interface).

This message can also occur when the traffic is broadcast or multicast to the management

interface of the switch.

Recommended Action: Verify the configuration to check for any commands that are

not supported at Catalyst Switches in the software configuration guide for the

respective version. Check the management interface for broadcasts, and ensure that

the management VLAN is not used for user traffic. If the error message recurs,

perform a simultaneous reboot of every switch within the stack. Also, review the

Bug Toolkit for potential bugs.
