Usually, Traceback message indicate memory leak and hardware issues, but it could also be IOS realated  Try loading a different IOS and watch it for a period on time.

What type of router and what IOS are you running?

Yes, 2600 series is very old.  I would try a different IOS.

Free space check for flash:crashinfo_20020301-000010 failed (1016/1302)

Your router is undergoing what is known as a crash-boot-loop.  Basically it's crashing and it boots, natural behaviour.  While it is booting up, it writes a crashinfo file.  Seeing that your router has no more flash memory space, it crashes again.  And it'll keep doing this until you free up some more flash space.

Re: need some big time help

Once you get to ROMMON mode, try issuing "dir flash" and see if there is anything you can delete. if you aren't sure what you can delete, paste the output back to this thread.

There are some helpful ROMMON commands here

it is nothing but crash info, im actually trying to learn with my home lab and study for my ccna. so while this is a good learning experience it is also a pain because i can move forward. im trying to pass the ccna before sep 30 before they change the test.

do you think it could be a hardware problem with the memory

also i have another router and i saved the flash file on a tftp, but i cant seem to copy tftp flas, inside the rommon mode

Re: need some big time help

Try this to copy from tftp to flash:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a008015bf9e.shtml

Try deleting most of those crash files and see if the router will boot to the software image. I don't think that will help, but it's worth a shot. I think you have a hardware issue with the memory module or corrupt flash.

Re: need some big time help

rommon 13 > delete flash: crashinfo_20020301-001133

monitor: command "delete" not found

is there another way to delete in rommon

it is probably a bad mem mod, cause it was working fine then ka-blewy, no connection to the other router and when i went over to see what was going on it was in a rebootloop cycle.

might just by another

rommon 13 > delete flash: crashinfo_20020301-001133

Your syntax is incorrect.  There's a between the ":" and the "crashinfo".

Try this:  delete flash:crashinfo_20020301-001133

Heck, I think you can get away with:  delete flash:crashinfo*

Re: need some big time help

leo,

you were helping me with this issue and i tried somthing and it back fired on me, please help.

i figured it was the memmory module that went bad so i took one from another router i had and switched it and it still did not boot, it went to rommon mode.

here is the kicker, i put the memmory back into the router that was working fine and now it is doing the same thing, they are both the same router and specs. it says it exceeds mem, but does not. also this router was working perfectly before i swapped to diagnose the mem. mod.

Re: need some big time help

sorry everyone and thanks i found the problem. the first router having the problem was the module must have popped out the first time(no clue how). then when i swapped i actually did the same thing and did not push hard enough to pop it in all the way.

i realized this when it loaded and i saw it said only 32 mb of main mem and i knew i had 64mb

so i figured out that the module was not in all the way, i popped it in it then said 64 mb and went to set-up mode

thanks,

i wont bother you anymore
