We are looking for a good method to monitor our path from customer sites to data centers which are housed in two different geographical locations. 1 Data center is our voice access and the other Data Center is our Database store. We use handoff to Qwest as our carrier who does MPLS to our Data Center. We run BGP on customer side as well as on the Data Center side. Looking for a good solution that will 1) monitor the entire path to the voice data center from the customer site and 2) dampen the interface in the event the path becomes invalid. We may still have recieved routes over the provider however there may be disruption in services between the customer side and the Data Center. We want to account for that possibility by turning down routing on the Customer side and force them on their backups automatically.
Currently we do IP event dampening. I have researched to see if we could do IP SLA and somehow tie it into dampening but no such luck.
