new 2960 for the existing structure

Hi,

Got a new 24port 2960 switch to add to our existing infrastructure.

Not sure where to start from. Would copying from the existing config on couple of other switches be an option? Or does it have to be from scratch, beside giving a new address, etc?

Thanks.

I think that all depends on how it is getting implemented. If this is just a brand new one but is going to just increase the size of your ports for end users then the config will be almost identical minus the managment IP address.

If i'm doing this i usually have a setup script, just done in notepad, that has everything i need to configure on a switch. Then i just simply change the hostname and the management IP address, then simply copy and paste.

Andrew,

thanks for your reply.

That's pretty much what I had in mind. As you mentioned, it's for adding to the existing port capacity and should be relatively simple.

cheers,

Ally
