Nexus 2148T active-active mode towards Nexus 5010 - show fex output?

Hello,

I'm trying to configure a Nexus 2148T to connect redundant to two different Nexus 5010's. I'm not sure if my config is correct and working :

On the active 5K :

HI15887# show fex
  FEX            FEX             FEX                  FEX
Number       Description         State      Model            Serial
------------------------------------------------------------------------
110        HI15885        Online      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405CKGM
111        HI15886        Online      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405ASPT

On the 'passive' 5K :

HI15888# show fex
  FEX            FEX             FEX                  FEX
Number       Description         State      Model            Serial
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---       --------     Connected      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405CKGM
---       --------     Connected      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405ASPT
HI15888#

But after x-minutes I see :

HI15888# show fex
  FEX            FEX             FEX                  FEX
Number       Description         State      Model            Serial
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---       --------       Offline      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405CKGM
---       --------       Offline      N2K-C2148T-1GE   JAF1405ASPT

Should I see the FEX on the passive 5K? Should I see it's interfaces?

I get this error in the logs :

ETHPORT-5-IF_ERROR_VLANS_SUSPENDED: VLANs 1 on Interface port-channel30 are being suspended. (Reason: vPC peer is not reachable over cfs)

However :

HI15888# show cfs peers

Physical Fabric
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Switch WWN              IP Address
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
20:00:00:0d:ec:ff:5f:c0 x.x.x.x                              [Local]
                         HI15888
20:00:00:0d:ec:ff:97:00 x.x.x.x

Total number of entries = 2

HI15888# show vpc
Legend:
(*) - local vPC is down, forwarding via vPC peer-link

vPC domain id                   : 101
Peer status                     : peer adjacency formed ok
vPC keep-alive status           : peer is alive
Configuration consistency status: success
vPC role                        : secondary

If I enter configuration changes on a FEX interface, it's lost when I reload the Active 5K and the system fails over to the passive 5K.

Here's my config for both 5k's :

vpc domain 101
  role priority xxxx
  system-priority 4000
  peer-keepalive destination x.x.x.x
feature fex

fex 110
  pinning max-links 1
  type "Nexus 2148T"

fex 111
  pinning max-links 1
  type "Nexus 2148T"

interface port-channel30
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 999
  vpc peer-link
  spanning-tree port type network
  speed 10000

interface port-channel100
  switchport mode fex-fabric
  fex associate 110
  speed 10000

interface port-channel200
  switchport mode fex-fabric
  fex associate 111
  speed 10000

interface Ethernet1/19
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 999
  channel-group 30 mode active

interface Ethernet1/20
  switchport mode trunk
  switchport trunk native vlan 999
  channel-group 30 mode active

Thanks,

Andy.

Re: Nexus 2148T active-active mode towards Nexus 5010 - show fex

To answer my own question : I forgot the vpc parameter in the Port-Channel config.

interface port-channel100
  switchport mode fex-fabric
  vpc 100
  fex associate 110
  speed 10000

After this, all seems working. I can see the FEX from both 5010's.

Config isn't synced, but ports stay down if the config isn't identical on port level.

Andy.
