Im ordering Nexus 5596UP with N55-M16UP

The Cisco Nexus 5596UP switch has three slots that can be used for the following optional expansion modules:

16-port Universal (Fibre Channel and Ethernet) GEM (N55-M16UP) that provides 8-, 4-, 2-, or 1-Gbps Fibre Channel and 1- or 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports.

i need help understanding this part  provides 8-, 4-, 2-, or 1-Gbps Fibre Channel and 1- or 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports.

To different cards:

the first one comes with 8 FC and 8 Ethernet and the second card is unified, which means Ethernet or FC for all 16 ports

8-port FC (8/4/2/1G) + 8-port Eth/FCoE Module

N55-M16UP(=)

16-port Unified Port Expansion Module

but for the N55-M16UP its either i'll be using FC for the 16 ports or ethernet/FCoE , i cant be using ports for FC and others for ethernet/FCoE
