I need to manage our lab remotly, and have setup already set up management. One in a while i need to clear the config (run & start) without loosing my management connection. N7000 no longer supports "copy <file> startup-config", instead suggest using the following sequence:
the problem with this sequnce is that i loose my connection. When i try to use 'copy <file> running-config' with out 'write erase' and 'reload', it will just appends the running-config and does not replace it.
My question is: is ther eany way to retore to factory without loosing my managemnet access? can i use the startup-config lock mechanisms for this?
I think you should look into the root cause of the problem and figure out why do you need to clear the config. If hardware, software, memory, etc.. are all working properly, you should not need to clear to config and reboot.
this is a lab environment and occasionally we need to set it up for various testing/troubleshooting scenarios.most of the times in order to make sure there is no other config in the switch that could affect the results of the test, it's better to reset the programming to factoury and try the new layout from scratch.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
