Hi there,

What is the version you are using? I can be https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCtq91381.

Thanks,

Madhu

You would have to have the 7000 setup to point to a dns server otherwise there is no way to translate the server name . Search on setting up a ip domain name lookup on a  7000.

My assumption was when he tried to ping using host name it translated fine but just that the telnet was not working

Madhu,

Your assumptions are correct, I can ping the Hostname but not Telnet to the Hostname, I can telnet to the IP address

I am running System Version: 6.2(2) in the bug you referenced it only mentions version 5  OS, so I wonder if it has not been fixed in release 6 OS

regards

Richard

You are right.  It wouldn't be the first time they reintroduced a bug in a later release.
