Hi ,
We are advised to upgrade NX 7018 SUP-1 to SUP-2E. Our switches are running vPC,OSPF and Multicast. current NX-OS is 6.1. Please advise how to do this without service interuption.

Hi,
If you have 2 switches and are running VRRP or HSRP for your vlans with VPC, you can down the 7k with lower VRRP or HSRP priority and replace the Sup, bring it back up and make the new Sup to have higher priority, down the seond switch and replace the sup and bring it back up.

Before commencing the upgrade I suggest the following:
- Check your vPC configuration to see if the vPC auto-recovery command has been configured:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-24939
- Consider what will happen to any single attached devices that are connected to your vPC peers such as firewalls or load balancers when one switch is down. You may need to enable vPC orphan ports suspend:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-35113
- In our organisation for consistency we have placed the vPC primary switch in the first data centre and the vPC secondary in the second data centre. If you have a similar preference then after the upgrade has been completed check which switch has taken which role. If they have swapped roles you may have to re-boot one switch to restore them to their original roles.
