Nexus5548up - Is my etherchannel really 20G ?

Hi Guys,

Im having trouble verifying an etherchannel on my nexus and 6500..

Now.

I have a VSS distribution layer ( 2x 6500's ) and a bunch of nexus switches plugged into it.

The nexus switch as 1x 10g to one switch and 1x 10g to another in an etherchannel. (MEC)

Same on the VSS, its an etherchannel.

What I cant seem to figure out is if its really up at 20G due to the 2x links in the MEC.

A show int always shows 10G but it does show the members.. So with two members it should be a 20G agreggated MEC..

I had set my BS statement to 20000 but I dont think that really matters anyway..

The same goes for the 6500 end. Its a 10G UP UP port channel. No mention of 20G.

How can I be 100% sure that it is infact running 20G

  On a given channel any single conversation will only flow down a single interface of the channel so your total thruput for a given conversation will be 10  gig .  You have 20 gig of pipeline to push all traffic as some traffic will go down one interface and some will go down the other interface depending on dist. algorithim you choose.

Im fairly sure its all ok.. Just need someone to confirm my thinking

Im assuming that in reality you only get a 10G "flow" at any one time. So you could have multiple flows balanced across the links getting 20G through multiple flows.

So as I thought, Id get a max of 10G at any one time, However with muplti flows using multiple paths it could do 20G worth of throughput but at a max of 10G on any given flow?
