No SNMP Interface linkup/down alerts from Catalyst 3560
Has anybody encountered an issue with the lack of generation of SNMP trap events from a Catalyst 3560 running code c3560-ipservices-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin? I'm seeing it specifically on interfaces but suspect it affects all SNMP traps as output from show snmp shows:
SNMP logging: enabled
Logging to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.162, 0/10, 0 sent, 0 dropped.
SNMP agent enabled
I have tried the same config, with traps going to the same snmp-server, with another 3560 switch running code c3560-ipservices-mz.122-25.SEE2 and this is perfectly OK. Searching the Bug Toolkit doesn't show any bugs against this code.
Debugging snmp shows that the SNMP agent is sending responses (port 161) to an InfoVista Manager (working OK) but does not send SNMP traps (port 162) to HP openView Manager (snmp-server). Syslog to CiscoWorks is OK.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
