I have one 12-port 3750 switch having one gig connectivity with ASR-9010 router having IOS-XR. I am not able to ping this link with 9000 mtu size. I have enable system mtu jumbo on switch to 9000 and on ASR router interface mtu is set to 9114.

At switch side switch interface is configured as a trunk port and one vlan has been passed on that interface.

SW1#sh run int gi1/0/10

Building configuration...

Current configuration : 152 bytes

!

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/10

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport trunk native vlan 10

switchport mode trunk

speed nonegotiate

end

SW1#sh run int vlan 10

Building configuration...

Current configuration : 64 bytes

!

interface Vlan10

ip address 172.16.10.1 255.255.255.240

end

I am not able to ping the ip 172.16.10.2 with 9000 mtu size.

Kindly provide me the solution for same.

Thanks in advance...Amol

Hello ,

Pls reply someone...

Try pinging 172.16.10.2 with a range of MTU sizes. Are you able to ping it at all?

Hello Adam ,

Thanks for ur reply. I am not able to ping more than mtu size of 1998. It's only pinging with 1998 mtu size.

You can check MTU "show system mtu" on sw3750 and "show inter vlan 10" . Maybe 1998mtu is system MTU size

I have set the MTU size to 9000 by using command sysytem mtu jumbo 9000 and int vlan mtu size is 1500.

So you can increase mtu on interface vlan 9000, after you can check ping size 9000 again.
