Not enough flash memory on 2960-8TC-L

Hi, I have some new 2960-8TC-L and I would like to upgrade them with the following firmware: c2960-lanbasek9-tar.122-25.SEE3.tar but it's not possible because the Min.Flash which is needed has to be 32MB and this is what I have : switch#dir flash:

So why do I only have 28MB totally available?

I'm not sure why it says 32 , flash is just a storage area. If you have space which you do to add another image it will work fine . All the images are the same for these switches flash wise . I wouldn't hesitate putting it on , the image itself is less than 10 eg in size for the tar file , if you don't need GUI function use the .bin file instead.

hmmm, yes you are right, but my customer would like to use the archive-download procedure by using the .tar file and what I also found at the ios upgrade planner is the declaration: The selections you have made are: Platform: CAT2960

I don't know why 32MB are needed but I get an error message while the archive-download is proceeding.

What is the error that you see using the archive command ??? what is the archive syntax that you are using ?

the error message is:

Error: The image in the archive which would be used to upgrade

Error: system number 1 does not support that particular system.

The syntax looks correct other than your missing the "N" in download but I assume that is just a fat finger in the message . Other than that make sure the tar file is exact with what is on the tftp server . If its still a problem you might have to call the tac . As a test you could download the bin file to it and see if it takes it ok then you could delete it after and this would say the tftp function itself is ok . I don't even see SEE3 on the website for the 2960 model you say . you might want try something like this as this is for the 8 port model maybe you downloaded a image for the bigger switches .

:-D 'Fat Fingers'!!! Yes, you are right, I double checked all kinds of available releases for the 2960-8TC and the one which I would like to use (c2960-lanbasek9-tar.122-25.SEE3.tar) isn't listed ;-) ... hmmm, but when I'm using the IOS upgrade planner and choose CAT2960 platform I will get my file listed(http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Software/Iosplanner/Planner-tool/iosplanner.cgi?get_crypto=&data_from=&hardware_name=CAT2960&software_name=&release_name=&majorRel=&state=:HW&type=), whatever... I think I have the wrong firmware... tomorrow I will try an other one and I think this will fix my problem! Thanks for your help, I appreciate that! André

You look like you went in under IOS , I always pull it from the lan switch section as they break out the individual models for the switches what images are available. this is what is available under the lan switch section for the 8 port model.
