NSF/SSO recovery on 6500

I'm running dual Sup720's and testing NSF/SSO. When forcing a software failover I lose 1 ping packet, when removing the active sup I lose anywhere from 2-5 packets.

Is 2-5 packets the norm for hardware failure (sup removal)?

Thanks!

Is 2-5 packets the norm for hardware failure (sup removal)? Yes it can be. Some of the fail over time has to do with how busy the switch is at the time of the fail over.

When you fail the supervisor over VIA CLI it gracefully passes over control to the standby, as to where yanking the active requires the standby to notice that the active is no longer there and react.

HTH,

Mark
