NSF with SSO on redundant Sup V

I have dual Supervisor Vs in a 4510R chassis and want to configure them for the smallest possible interruption in the event of a switchover. The 30 seconds or so that it takes with SSO is longer than we'd like.

NSF with SSO looks like the most promising solution, but can it be configured like this in the 4500? The only specific documentation I found relates to NSF with SSO across devices/sites. The commands they list do not take. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/nsfsso.html

Thanks in advance. I just got my CCNA and I'm loving this stuff!

Re: NSF with SSO on redundant Sup V

Starting with Cisco IOS Release 12.2(31)SG, the Catalyst 4500 series switch supports NSF-capability.

IOS upgrade. :)

Re: NSF with SSO on redundant Sup V

The documentation you refer to is for the Catalyst 6500, not the 4500 that you have. NSF capability is only available on Sup IV & V but wasn't added until IOS 12.2(31)SG. NSF awareness has been available since 12.2(20)EWA. You will need to upgrade to at least 12.2(31)SG, however if you are going to upgrade then it's probably worth upgrading to the latest (12.2(40)SG is the latest I think?).

Re: NSF with SSO on redundant Sup V

Thanks guys! I got confused on the difference between NSF aware and NSF capable.
