NX7K - Removing Interface from a Port-Channel

Hello experts, 

Tried to remove channel-group while interface was up and shutdown...but kept getting this message. sw1(config-if)# no channel-group failed to remove Ethernet3/4 from port-channel 33: (null) [membership update failed for port-channel33 [service: unknown err: 0x98000441 - (null)]] sw(config-if)#

Does anyone know how to remove an interface from  a channel-group in the NX-7K?
