OSPF flap in Broadcast multicaccess network

Hello All,

We were working on the OSPF flapping issue and found that reachability issue to one neighbour has caused instability of all neighbours.

198.95.226.40     0   FULL/DROTHER    00:00:36    198.95.226.40   Vlan11
198.95.226.51     1   FULL/DROTHER    00:00:33    198.95.226.51   Vlan11
216.240.16.3      1   FULL/DR         00:00:34    198.95.226.8    Vlan11

Duruing the time of issue we were unable to reach the neighbour 198.95.226.51 and all the neighbours were keep changing from init till exstart state.

Can anybody help me to understand how the reachability issue for one neighbour has caused the instability of all the neighbours in the router in the same area?

Regards,

Thiyagu

Hello,

Do you have a network diagram you could post? What was the orignal cause of the OSPF issue with 198.95.226.51? Were all the OSPF neighbors having the same issue (every ospf router showing all neighbors in a non-full state)?

Thanks,

GH
