OSPF routes

Is it normal for the OSPF routes to be updated in the routing table every 20 sec.,

O 10.11.254.80/28 [110/14] via 10.1.131.131, 00:00:09, FastEthernet5/0/0

As you can see from the partial ?show IP route?, the route was updated 9 sec ago, it keeps updated every 19 sec. Is that normal?

The route could be flapping, and there are many reason it could do so;

- Link up and down

- Duplicate Router ID

- DDR

- Configuration problem (i.e. redistribution ?)

You have to find out where that route comes from to narrow down your next step.

You can use the "show ip ospf statistics" and "show ip ospf statistics detail" to find what causes the route to be reinstalled in the RIB.

Hope this helps,
