OSPF

My 3560g-24 will allow me to configure router ospf xx but doesn't take me to the next level. However if I configure router eigrp, it takes me to the next level. What could be the problem?

Re: OSPF

Mary,

You can keep 12.2(25)SEE or go to anything more recent but you need to make sure you get one of the following feature set in order to support OSPF:

- ADVANCED IP SERVICES

- IP SERVICES

- IP SERVICES W/O CRYPTO

Hope this helps,

Re: OSPF

Mary,

It sounds like you might not have the right feature set. Can you include the output of a "show ver".

Thanks,

Re: OSPF

I agree

even though the commands are in the show ? output, to be able to use them depends on the type of IOS. I think IPBase lets you do minimal eigrp config (stub) but the IPServices version gives you more L3 functionality so you can use the OSPF sub- commands.

hope this helps

Re: OSPF

The behavior you are seeing is definitely because you are running the IP Base feature set. This feature set will allow you to run EIGRP but not OSPF. Please upgrade to the IP Services feature set so you run OSPF.

Re: OSPF

I don't have the switch anymore but I can tell you what the IOS that it has is 12.2(25)SEE

I'm going to get it and have to configure OSPF. What version do I need? We do have a smartnet contract.

Thanks for all your help.
