Password question...

Hello everyone,

I was hoping someone could lend a helping hand. A question about passwords...

I create a username matt password ****

Then add login local to the vty lines

I can then telnet and use that username but if I add ip http authentication local

I am unable to login via the web.

If I setup the username matt priviledge 15 password ####

I am able to login via the web but when I go to login via telnet I no longer have to put in the enable secret password, it drops me right to enabe mode.

Can I get the best of both worlds?

Login via the web and login via telnet with also having to use the enable secret password?

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Re: Password question...

HTTP requires level 15 because it calls for many APIs which are running in the background so you need a higher priv.

The only workaround is creating 2 accounts, one for the web with priv 15 and another for CLI with no priv.
