pc to router

hi all im learning ccna and have a lab at home,and doin some labs,now i know the connection between pc and router should be crossover cable but thinking i had a crossover i plugged in a straight through cable and the lab worked so when i realised i changed for the xover and the lab still works,is this right do some routers work this out for you???i presume the exam will say just a xover but just wanted too check,the routers a 3640

yes it is normal. almost all ethernet port have auto-mdix therefore no matter which cable you plug in the port will go up.
