We were carrying out a test to find out if the network would still be reachable if the VSL Port channel was shut down.
On shutting down the VSL port channel continous pings that we had put to some of our servers stopped.
We also lost connectivity to the core switch.
On checking the status of the VSS, we realised that VSS failover had occured as the standby switch became active and the active switch went into the recovery mode. However, no traffic was being forwarded (The 6509 act as our core switches).
