pkts dropped from output queue

When I run a "show int summ" I get the following, the FE0 interface is connected to the private WAN and I notice that the "pkts dropped from output queue" counter is very high (see below).  Does that mean there is too much traffic destined to the wan that the router can handle?

  Interface              IHQ   IQD  OHQ   OQD  RXBS RXPS  TXBS TXPS TRTL

------------------------------------------------------------------------

* FastEthernet0            0     0   38 4992521 2107000  3870 97907000  8206

* FastEthernet1            0     0    0     0 98122000  8236 1971000  3869    0

Hello Ron,

what device is this?

I suppose it is a software based router like a C2800

what kind of output queueing is applied to the interface?

May you post sh interface fas0/0 the same number should appear as output drops but for example other counters like ignored could be a sign of performance problems

Hope to help

Giuseppe
