Poisoning a BGP route using interface status

Hello

I am trying to find a mechanisim that will allow me to poison a certain BGP route eg: add 200 to its AD, via the status of a particular interface. If my fa0/0 interface goes down, I want a trigger that will influence routing decisions within BGP for a particular route. Is this possible? Many thanks in advance for your help. Regards.

Hi,

what is the underlying problem? Could it also help not to announce the network any more, instead of announcing it with worse metric?

Has the route anything to do with the Fa0/0 ?

Hi,

you might want to have a look at "Setting a BGP Local Preference Value for OER Controlled BGP Routes"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6441/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008047c6ad.html#wp1055183

Optimized Edge Routing allows to monitor reachability and could thus be helpful in your case.
