Policing traffic on Router

When I want to limit traffic using MQC on a router with the police command I get 3 options.

# police [ bps , cir , rate ]

I know bps but whats the different between bps, cir and rate? Doesn't it all do the same thing?

Re: Policing traffic on Router

Hi,

police bps and police cir bps are the same.

police rate allows you to specify packet per second instead of bps
