Prevent users from using IP address of routers "duplicate IP"

Hi,

How can I protect our router from some users that by mistake configure their machine or printer with the interface of the router.

We had an indent today our LAN admin configure the printer with the IP address of the interface used in router "Catalyst 6509 with sup720". The subnet were it happened went very very slow.

How to prevent this from happening ?

Thanks

You can configure Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI) to protect the gateway address from being duplicated.

See the link below for more details.
