probe for MAC which has aged out of core?

Does anyone know a trick to get a core router to reload a specific MAC on edge switches which has aged out of the core CAM table because the station is idle, WITHOUT knowing the station's IP address (which it may not even have)?

Often the edge switches will hold onto these entries much longer than the core.

This is in the interest of being thorough when answering the question "is this machine connected to the network anywhere?"

You have not specified that what type of switch you are using for your network. I know that the Catalyst 3750 Metro switch does not update the CAM table and does not use the MAC address of port 1/0/3 in the CAM table for port 1/0/2.
