Problem booting up a Catalyst 6504E

Hi guys,

I am experiencing a problem with my Catalyst 6504E. When I power it up it always gives the following error

" Autoboot executing command: "boot bootflash:c6sup22-psv-mz.121-20.E3"

open(): Open Error = -9

loadprog: error - on file open

boot: cannot load "bootflash:c6sup22-psv-mz.121-20.E3"

When I try to manually boot it using the the boot command from rom monitor mode, it give the following message

*** System received a Software forced crash ***

signal= 0x17, code= 0x24, context= 0x42743de4

PC = 0x401299fc, Cause = 0x1020, Status Reg = 0x34018002

after the system decompresses the image.

I thought of a corrupted image and I tried downloading a new Image to the system using XMODEM many times but it keeps failing after reaching 45-50% of the transfer.

I want to delete the current image in bootflash: before

attempting to upload again but I don't know how can do that from ROMMOM>

I will apppreciate ur help

Here is the URL for the Recovering Catalyst Switches Running CatOS from Booting Failures Follow the steps which will help you :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/products_tech_note09186a00800949c3.shtml#cat6k

I am having the same issue on a 6509E /W Sup32.

The recovery procedure that uses slot0: (Compact Flash) does not work on any of the sup32's I have (3). The Xmodem procedure fails anywhere after 10% of the file transfer.

I've opened a TAC case and am awaiting action.

The possibility of not being able to recover a crashed Sup32 RP image is scarey.
