Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

Hi, I have sent an IOS file called c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-40.SE.bin (IP Base version) to by Cisco Catalyst 3560 switch by running:

copy tftp://1.2.3.4/c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-40.SE.bin flash:

It successfully copies it, but if i reboot and type show version I still get the old version?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chnage the boot system parameter

(config)#boot system flash:c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-40.SE.bin

you can verify it via the sh boot command

HTH, rate if it does

Yes this looks good.

Chnaging the IOS will not chnage the bootstrap though but that should not be worry

HTH, rate if it does

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

What is the bootstrap?

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

Perform the upgrade by using a combined tar file. This file contains both the Cisco IOS image file and the files needed for CMS. You must use the combined tar file to upgrade the switch through CMS. To upgrade the switch through the command-line interface (CLI), use the tar file and the archive download-sw privileged EXEC command.

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

can't find a tar file for the 3560

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

You may not have the required rights on CCO.

Perhaps you can ask your distributor or a collegue for the correct file?

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

Can you find the link if possible? I can then see if my username and password let me, I can download most things on our Smartnet contract.

Check this out

Choose the correct model you have and you should be able to find the image

BTW can you do a sh boot and see whether you see the new IOS mentioned there after you uploaded the new IOS

IP BASE W/O CRYPTO WITH WEB BASED DEV MGR

Re: Problem uploading IOS to Cisco 3560

The second one is a crypto graphic image and would alow you to configure features like SSH etc..

You can choose anyone as long as it fulfils your requirements
