It seems like a block of ports that are linked internaly to the same ASIC (the 3rd inside) are stuck! There are no cables connected to them, and they show "up", and in the web configuratio utility they also show as UP !!

Can anyone please help before I put this switch in the closet?

Thanks a lot!!

Re: Problem with Catalyst 2924 XL! Ports 9-12 dead?

Any suggestions that may recover it? Or use it as a 24-4=20 port switch ??

Hi Dimitrios,

From the bootup sequence you included, it looks like ports 9-12 are failing the POST diagnostic. This  would certainly point to hardware failure. If possible, get a replacement switch. I believe the 2900XL switches are well beyond the end of life, so you would not be able to get an RMA from Cisco.

If another switch isn't available, you could simply avoid using the ports in question.

Hope that helps,

Bobby
