Tracebacks means it's a bug.
You have four choices:
1. Contact TAC and ask them to decipher which process is triggering the bug;
2. Reboot without upgrading the IOS;
3. Upgrade the IOS; or
4. Do nothing.
There a chance TAC will tell you to upgrade because the IOS is old, very old. I am suspecting you're hitting a memory buffer bug where the system don't seem to be able to return un-used memory back into the pool. This is very common, particularly with 6500 IOS.

Hi Juan,
Thanks for the output. It confirms to me that the issue is with leaking
IDB's. IDB's (Interface Descriptor Blocks) are used to represent any interface,
physical or virtual.
The impact of this issue is that we can no longer generate any new
IDB's. Therefore, any changes made to a port-channel, or the
addition/removal of any interfaces could potentially be prevented. A
port flap could potentially induce the Etherchannel(or other interfaces)
to stay down
permanently.
You can check the same using # show id b and check for Total IDB's in count.
Also go ahead and plan for the software upgrade. As there is a bug associated to this issue and it is resolved in the version 12.2(33)SXi and later.
HTH
Regards
Inayath
