Problems with Interfaces.....I think

I am checking my switches and working on errors I may find. I am finding something I think is a little strange. I have a bunch of interfaces that show as up/up (connected), however, the last input is never and the packets input is zero. This means the interface has never received an incoming packet. How could something be connected but not have received any packets?

Any help or direction would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Problems with Interfaces.....I think

Hi Mike,

What is that connected on that interface. Are you sending and receving the traffic on this?

The input packets on the interface is on a 5 minutes average interval. So if the interface has not received any input with in the last five minutes then it can show that no input packets.

If you want to lower the average interval time on the interface then the default five minutes, then do the following:

conf t

int fa x/y

load-interval
