Hi all, can anyone help me
I want to get a cisco asa firewall for my home, but I have a dsl router terminating my network connection in front of the firewall, is there anyway I could get it so the dialler interface and outside interface of my dsl router are both on the same public subnet, could I use bridging or something like that ?
cheers
Carl

Hi,
you can configure your DSL modem as bridge and the outside of the ASA as DHCP. With this configuration your ASA gets the IP you would normally get on yout DSL modem.

can anyone tell me how to do this on my router ?

you will have to call your ISP for that. some comapanies use modems that can authenticate using the username and password and still act as a bridge, others do not and if set up as a bridge require your equipment to do the authentication. There is no way on the ASA that i know of to have anything for pap/chap authenticaiton to an ISP.
