Hi
Is there a fixed limitation in the number of vlan stp instances on catalysts or is it depending on the specific platform (somebody has mentioned 128 vlans, but I haven't been able to verify it on CCO)

Hello Jesper,
it is platform dependent.
You should be fine on C6500 and C4500 that should support at least 1024 STP instances other low end devices can support as low as 64 STP instances in old IOS images or 128.

Hello Giuseppe
Thanks for your answer. It's the lower end switches I'm worried about (C3750G and C2960G) and I don't think the link you supplied is specific on the number of stp instances supported (or maybe I'm blind ;-)?
Thanks, Jesper

Hello Jesper,
you are not blind :)
I thought this information was present in a document like that but it isn't (something that should be inserted).
I think the only way is to look at the datasheet of each platform.
Hope to help
Giuseppe
