QOS - Lotus Notes Traffic

I am beginning to apply QOS at our LAN/WAN and identifying various Lotus Notes traffic is one task.

1- Lotus notes clients access Data Databases and applications, and emails.

2- Notes servers replicate emails as well as databases. How can I identify this different types of traffic ?

3- Are different TCP ports used for each type of traffic ?

4- Does sametime uses a different set of ports ?

Same questions for Altiris ?

Hello,

a good starting point for TCP/UDP ports is f.e.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_TCP_and_UDP_port_numbers

There is also a list of links to other port databases in the internet.

Be aware, however, that the remote possibility exists your server admins deviated from the default TCP/UDP ports at some point. So he final answer can only be given with a network analyzer.

Notes:tcp/udp 1352

Sametime: tcp 1533

You can read more from this link

http://websphereadvisor.com/doc/17081

You can use NBAR to identify and prioritize the different types of Notes traffic. Use Custom-01, -02, -0x to configure other Notes ports like Sametime.

I believe that Altiris uses ports tcp 401, 402, but not sure though.

NBAR is not available since MPLS CE router connects to a CATswitch. Wishing to hear from someone who has classified different types of notes traffic.

One clarification: Presently our WAN is MPLS. MPLS-CE routers are managed by provider and connect to our switch port (no router in the middle). We may have to change that but thats how its now, so NBAR isnot available.
