Hi,

If I enable QoS on a Catalyst 6500, which DSCP value and which CoS wil be assigned to routing protocols and other control protocols when those packet arrive on a switch egress port ? In another words, is there any default queuing and prioritization for control traffic ?

Thank you

Yves

hi

you are a CCIE am not but i will try to give my point of view :)

packet dealing with system-use always have an ip precedence or a class of service cos of 6 and 7 (those are reserved for that purpose and it not recommanded as stated by cisco to use them for other packets)

translate form ip precedence to dscp to get the adequate value in dscp, about prioritization and queing, i thinks when u have a bandwidth the system only gives you 75 percent of the available bandwidth the other amount 25 is reserved for system use including control and routing protocol, u can manipulate reserved value by using max-reserved bandwitdh...
