quick suggestion on VLAN and ping

hi

i NEED a quick suggestion

we have an L2 switch connected to unmanageable switch has 6 ports defined (these are connected to access cards i.e cameras and finger scan machines wih static IPS 10.10.10.131-10.10.10.134)

l2 switch connected to L3 switch(inter vlan routed enable route):

l3 switch has two vlans 99 and 101

vlan 99 has 10.10.10.0/24

vlan 101 has 10.10.14.0/24

from vlan 101 system IP say 10.10.14.30 i could ping to any of the IP of 10.10.10.0/24 except 10.10.10.131-134.

if we are in vlan 99 say ip 10.10.10.21 i could ping to any of ip of 10.10.14.0/24 and also 10.10.10.131-134.

******so the subnet 10.10.14.0/24(vlan 99)  of any ip host couldnt ping to 10.10.10.131-10.10.10.134 , but could ping to all the the other ips of 10.10.10.0/24 (vlan 101)series.*********

please give me the exac solution as the unmanageable switch not accepting the other ip subnet network .

thanks & regards

srikanth

quick suggestion on VLAN and ping

Hi Srikanth,

Did you try to ping any pc in 10.10.14.0 from pc's 10.10.10.131 and 134? is that working?
Also is that PC's 10.10.10.131 and 134 are able to ping other networks.

If yes, then there must be some access-list rules configured to not access 10.10.10.131 and 134 from network 10.10.14.0 because of some security reasons.

quick suggestion on VLAN and ping

HI all

from any pc in the range of 10.10.14.0 to all pc's at host 10.10.10.0 pingable except 10.10.10.131-134

and there are no acess list defined for accessing limit to 10.10.10.131-134

at these

10.10.10.131 and 132 and 133 is plugged to Finger scan machine to switchL2

10.10.10.134  is plugged to cameras.to switchL2.

at present we have only w two vlans and no access list is placed to deny access to any ip.

thanks & regards

quick suggestion on VLAN and ping

Alain,

If there is no default gateway on 10.10.10.131-10.10.10.134, how they can communicate with others?

quick suggestion on VLAN and ping

I think Leo and Alain are correct.  Here is what I'm reading based on the OP:

1) VLAN 101 (10.10.14.0/24) devices can ping any 10.10.10.0/24 IP EXCEPT 10.10.10.131-134

2) VLAN 99 (10.10.10.0/24) devices can ping any 10.10.10.0/24 address (make sense - it's the same subnet)

Problem would point to the specific devices (10.10.10.131-134) not having a correct default gateway configured (as Leo noted).

Actually, looking at the OP again, it's a bit confusing between the final statement and the earlier, as the VLAN numbers and subnets are switched.  I'm assuming what I've listed is correct.
