Redistributng BGP Default into OSPF

Hi:

I have a BGP speaker thats learning a default route from the ISP. I know that I can run OSPF on that same edge router, which makes it an ASBR, by the way, and inject a default route into the OSPF domain by using the default-information-originate command. The caveat being that the default route must be in the routers RIB, unless, of course, I use the "always" keyword. Inthat case the dfault will be injected into the OSPF area even if one does not exist on the edge router (ASBR).

However, is it possible to do a "redistribute bgp 65000" under the OSPF process to inject the BGP-learned default route into the OSPF area that way?

Thanks

Re: Redistributng BGP Default into OSPF

Hi Victor,

It is not possible to redistribute the default route into ospf using the redistribute statement.

As you mentioned, you can definitely use the "default-information originate" statement without the always keyword, which will only inject the route into ospf if it is already present in the RIB (from BGP or other source).

Re: Redistributng BGP Default into OSPF

Hi, Harold:

Thanks for confirming. Unfortunately, I am on an engagement out of state and I dont have access to my lab. I would have just 'labbed it up' otherwise.

Thanks again.

Victor
