Dear All,
I have 6509-E chassis with redundant SUP.
show module output
5 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Active) WS-SUP720-3B
6 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Hot) WS-SUP720-3B
We had s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH8b.bin IOS running on both SUPs. While upgrading to s72033-adventerprisek9-mz.151-2.SY2.bin, I followed this link.
After executing "hw-module module 6 reset" command for standby SUP, standby SUP reloaded but stopped responding after (Console message)
Cisco IOS Software, s72033_rp Software (s72033_rp-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M), Version 15.1(2)SY2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

from Primary SUP, output of show module was..
5 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Active) WS-SUP720-3B
6 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Other) WS-SUP720-3B
After quite a while primary SUP reloaded (without being standby SUP came online) and whole chassis reloaded.
This is not the expected behavior. Did anybody faced this problem before ?
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks & Regards
Ahmed Gadi

Hi Ahmed,
Can you provide the log from primary sup console after you reset slave sup? is there any crashinfo generated on slot5/6 sup?
Thanks,
Vincent

I do not have it in buffer, I will check our syslog server and will update.

Ahmad,
At this stage, you may want to make sure you have the same exact IOS installed on both sups and reboot the entire chassis to bring the system back to normal with slot 5 as active and 6 as stand-by. Also, is your config register set correctly for both sups (0x2102)?

Hi Ahmad,
That is certainly not normal. I am thinking, you are encountering a bug in IOS 15, which in not uncommon specially since the devices were working fine before the upgrade.
Can you try loading a different version of IOS and test?

There is not much information on syslog server logs.

How to copy sea_console.dat from slavesup-disk: to tftp ?
Will this Document resembles for sea_console.dat file ?
