Hello,
We have a 2955 at a remote site (no one onsite) and a port keep sgoing up and down every few seconds. It has a server at the other end of the port and they ahve replaced this and the Cat 5 cable and it is still doing this.
FastEthernet0/1 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)
FastEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Any ideas, we reloaded the config and this made no difference, apparently when someone went onsite they said the port was flashing amber and green?
Thanks

I would hard code the speed and duplex of the port. See if that helps. You could also do a "sh int

Amber !!!!!!! I think the port has gone bad. also for that port since it is connected to a server , enable spanning tree port fast and see if it makes any difference. But it would still be recommended to change the port to any other port on the switch.
Thanks
Manish

Hi,
The port was already set to spanning tree port fast, we have scheduled to try another port later, fingers crossed.

Sounds like the NIC of the client has gone bad.
