replace SUP1A with SUP720 3B

I am going to replace a supervisor Engine 1A with a Supervisor Engine 720 3B. I meet all the Prerequisites for adding the 720 3B to the 6509 chassis. Question: Can I install the Supervisor Engine 720 3B in slot 5 or 6 of a 9 slot chassis and configure it while still leaving the Sup A1 in slot 1 as primary?

I can't say for sure but I would doubt it . I have never heard of being able to do that . The 720 is native ios and the sup1a I believe was hybrid mode . You would have to have a redundant 720 in slot 6 as backup . The sup1a and the 720 run 2 totally different codes .
