If I have configured a rip statement in a router what is the importamce and result of redistribute connected? Does this mean that if this is not included then rip will not run over the interface when its connected?
RIP runs on all the interfaces that falls on the same subnet as configured under the network parameter in RIP
If a network is not included, then RIP is not running on the interface and hence does not distribute its presence to others
Redistribute connected will advertise all the connected routes to other RIP memmbers. This is generally used when you have large number of SVIS configured on a L3 switch ands want to run RIP on all the interfaces. The configurations are less as compared to network statements that would be required under the RIP process
